Non-surgical facial sculpting

Facial sculpting uses injectable treatments to contour the features of your face for a more desirable aesthetic. The procedure typically targets several features in order to achieve a comprehensive yet natural-looking change.

At the Victorian Dermal Group, we use two types of injectables in our facial sculpting treatment:

1. Dermal fillers: These are pure hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers that add volume to sagging skin and rejuvenate ageing tissue. HA is a safe and natural substance that our bodies use as a tissue lubricant and moisturiser.‍
2. Anti-wrinkle injections: These are mild paralytics that gently relax targeted facial muscles to prevent them from wrinkling and sagging the skin.

Clients interested in our facial sculpting treatment are typically unhappy with the overall structure of their face. Through precise and strategic changes to the contours of their features, we help them — and you — to achieve the self-confidence that’s eluded them.

Facial sculpting can involve:

• Improving the symmetry of your features
• Adding or restoring lost volume, including to the temples and cheeks
• Creating a fuller nose or extending a receding chin
• Defining the cheekbones and reducing the prominence of the brow ridge
• Defining the jawline and firming, softening or pointing the chin
• Subtly masculinising or feminising your facial features

Following your consultation, we will provide you with comprehensive pre-treatment guidelines to follow. Our injectables are extremely safe and have a low risk of causing adverse effects. The primary concern with these guidelines is ensuring that the injections themselves can be done safely and heal quickly.

Our preparatory instructions will include:

• Do not apply intensive skin treatments to your face, including chemical peels or laser treatments.
• Avoid strenuous exercise and blood-thinning substances like alcohol and some medications, as they can cause excess bleeding and bruising around the injection points.

We may even be able to finish sooner, depending on your treatment plan. Here’s how the day will run:

• We will have asked you to arrive with a clean face with no makeup, sunscreen or product.
• Your doctor will then review your plan to ensure you feel confident and comfortable.
• We will give your face a final clean to remove any sweat, and then apply a numbing cream around the injection points to minimise your discomfort.
• We will conduct the procedure.
• Following your facial sculpt, we may ask you to remain at our clinic briefly so we can monitor you for adverse reactions.

Once we’re all satisfied, you’ll be free to leave.

Because facial sculpting is such a minimally invasive procedure, your face will be quite easy to care for.

• Keep your face well moisturised to help the injection points heal. We recommend using the Hydra-vital light moisturising gel cream. 
• Do not sleep on your face or put excessive pressure on it for 3-4 days. This will allow the filler to settle into your tissue.
• It is normal to feel small bumps and unevenness in the settling filler during the first 3-4 days. You can help it settle by gently massaging it using a cold press.
