With enforced isolation, it's the perfect time for a skin treatment

What we think about our skin is intrinsically tied with our psychology, and for some people, not being able to take care of their skin would be detrimental to their mental health.

During this time of quarantine, we're operating with extra precautions. In fact, if you've been thinking about getting a Cosmelan skin peel, now's the perfect time to do so! As you'll be self-isolating anyway, you'll have the downtime needed for the treatment.

At the Victorian Dermal Group, our team of experienced dermal clinicians will assess your skin before making recommendations for treatment. Book your initial consult today.

Why we are still operating

For some, taking care of their skin is an essential activity. If you suffer from a skin condition, such as melasma or rosacea, you may feel self-conscious. Reducing the appearance of these skin conditions is as important as taking care of your mental health. That's why we're still operating during this time of COVID-19 crisis, so you can continue to take care of your skin during quarantine.

Skin treatments which require downtime

Now that the Victorian government has issued a state-wide self-quarantine for non-essential activities, it's the perfect time to get that skin treatment which requires downtime. To transform your skin or get rid of pigmentation, some of our treatments have side effects.

Cosmelan skin peels

If you suffer from melasma or hyperpigmentation, we can treat your skin with a Cosmelan skin peel. Cosmelan treats less severe conditions.

It's the world number one treatment for pigmentation. It can be applied topically to your skin, and is safe to use on all skin types, including darker skin tones.

How it works:

  1. We'll cleanse your skin
  2. Then we'll apply the Cosmelan/Dermemelan mask
  3. You can leave the clinic, but you need to leave your mask on for 8-12 hours
  4. Wash the mask off after the 8-12 hour period

Side effects include:

  • Your skin will peel from 5 days to as long as 2 weeks
  • Sensitivity (you must apply sunscreen daily if you plan to leave the home)
  • Skin tightness
  • On-going improvement of your skin

Leg vein laser treatment

Varicose veins, also known as spider veins, can form when your blood vessels clot or twist. They can be hereditary, or they can form when you stand or sit still for long periods of time, and don't exercise. Many people don't like the appearance of varicose veins, which is why we offer treatments to reduce their appearance.

How it works:

  • We'll assess your veins
  • Decide whether to treat them with a laser
  • If they're particularly prominent, we'll refer you to our partner clinic Vein Solutions Medical Clinic
  • If you go through our partner clinic, you may need ultrasound therapy

Side effects include:

  • Bruising
  • Redness
  • Swelling

You legs should return to normal within 7-10 days of receiving treatment.

Acne scarring removal

We can reduce the appearance of acne scarring using laser technology. The method and side effects will vary depending on which laser we use. For instance:

  • Fraxeul Dual laser safely penetrates superficial skin layers, and stimulates the growth of natural collagen to repair scars
  • Skin needling involves an M-pen, which creates tiny punctures to create a healing process in your skin cells so new collagen and elastin forms
  • Vivace RF combines fractional radiofrequency technology with microneedling
  • Vbeam Prima uses two wavelengths to target blood vessels

How it works:

  • We'll assess your skin
  • Create a personalised treatment plan
  • Depending on which laser we recommend using, you'll have different downtimes

Side effects include:

  • Skin pigmentation
  • Redness
  • Itchiness
  • Soreness

Other skin care treatments you can access during quarantine

Let's face it, everyone has unique preferences when it comes to skin care. Some clients have reported feeling fearful that they won't be able to book in for laser hair removal, chemical skin peels, and tattoo removals for months after we have reopened. That's why we're taking bookings now, so you can look your best when restrictions ease and we can start socialising once more.

Why choose the Victorian Dermal Group?

Receiving a skin treatment has never been safer. We employ the highest standard of sanitisation on all our equipment, and almost all of our treatments take less than an hour.

Our dermal clinicians are fully trained and experienced in providing skin solutions, and we'll never advise a skin treatment unless we've fully assessed your skin first.

We use industry leading technology, and our team regularly researches and evaluates the best methods for treating skin concerns like melasma or rosacea.
