Parents used to warn their sons and daughters about tattoos, saying they're a lifelong commitment. But they're not — not when you have access to industry-leading laser technology.
At Victorian Dermal Group, we safely and effectively remove tattoos of all shapes and sizes.
You'll need to book an initial consultation with one of our dermal clinicians. During this appointment, we'll look at the size of your tattoo, and it's colour pigmentations. We'll also ask you about your medical history, in case you have any conditions which may interact negatively with our laser therapies.
Then, we'll devise a treatment plan for you. Depending on the size of your tattoo, we'll need to schedule a minimum of six sessions to fully remove your tattoo.
We use the RevLite laser. It releases a pulse of light energy into individual skin follicles and shatters the ink lying in the targeted cells. The short pulses feel similar to the snap of an elastic band, and many of our clients say they experience minimal discomfort during the treatment.
The RevLite laser features four wavelengths, meaning it can target a wide scope of colours — including blue, black, red, orange, and purple.
For two weeks prior to treatment, you'll need to avoid:
If your tattoo has hair, shave the area (as well as a two-centimetre border around it). If advised, apply a topical numbing cream 30-60 minutes prior to the start of your appointment.
Post-treatment, the treated area may feel like it's been slightly burnt. To minimise blistering, swelling, and bruising, follow these instructions:
The treated section of skin will temporarily lighten in colour. This will fade with time, and your skin will return to its usual hue.
After your first session, your tattoo will appear faded. It will take several treatments to fully remove a tattoo.
Here are just a few of our client's transformations.
Currently getting my tattoo removed, Vic Dermal Group had a really good special and I was able to get three laser removal sessions for a great price and have seen really good results. I’m always informed on current specials, and the customer service is great.
I've been a patient at Vic Dermal for the past 12 months and have been so pleased with my results for laser tattoo removal. The clinicians are professional and made sure I was well informed of the process and aftercare for my tattoo removal procedures. You will be well looked after by this team!
I have been attending Vic Dermal for a number of years for tattoo removal, laser hair removal, and injectables.
They are my go-to for all my beauty therapy. All of the staff are so professional, friendly, and helpful, and will make you feel welcome and comfortable. CANNOT recommend this establishment highly enough.
I went in for laser tattoo removal, and the girls at VIC dermal were all so sweet. They made me feel super comfortable and they really give a lot of time, attention and care when dealing with me. Laser removal can be painful, but the care from the girls made things a lot better!
Thanks to the RevLite laser, we can fully remove most tattoos. However, if the colour pigment lies outside the scope of what our laser can detect, a faint trace may remain. We'll let you know when you visit for your initial consultation.
In the days following your treatment, you may experience:
Yes — we can target specific skin follicles, so it's possible to target and remove one section of the tattoo.
Unless the tattoo covers a pre-existing scar, it's highly unlikely laser removal will cause scarring — especially if you follow the aftercare instructions. The RevLite laser uses Q-switched technology, which is non-invasive.
We're not going to lie to you and tell you that tattoo removal is pain-free. It hurts, but not as much as it is made out to be.
In fact, it often is less painful than getting the tattoo in the first place. We liken it to a light stinging sensation, like snapping a rubber band against your skin.
When you come in for treatment, we will do our best to manage this pain. We will also advise you on how to manage any blistering or discomfort in the weeks after your treatment.
The schedule of treatment for tattoo removal will vary widely from person to person. Smaller tattoos will take less sessions to remove, in the same way that small, clean lines will be more easily removed than thick, black lines.
For all tattoo removal procedures, it's best to wait 6 to 8 weeks between treatments for best results.
Follow this guide when planning a tattoo removal:
The precise timeframe of your tattoo removal will depend on a lot of factors, including colour, lines, layering, and your own complexion. If you'd like to know more about how long the process will take for you, get in touch with our expert team for a consultation.
